Claire got a house for Christmas; it was pretty fun to watch her open it up and play with it. Enjoy
As Christmas Approaches
We purchased a tree on Black Friday and Season did a great job decorating it; it looks awesome:
It’s drooping a bit because… well.. it’s dying. I was worried about a week ago whether or not it would make it to Christmas but I think at this point we’re in the clear.
We went to the community center this evening and saw Santa Claus. I’d love to post a cute picture with Claire on Santa’s lap but she was terrified of the big guy. When Season took her over to him she wouldn’t look at him and clutched on to her mother with all her might. Maybe next year…
It was really cold (for Seattle) in the early part of December. We had highs in the 20s for about a week and everyone complained about how unbearably cold it was. I’d like to say that I’m from the east coast and I didn’t complain about the coldness but I complained.
Speaking of cold weather, Claire got a hat and mittens recently and wouldn’t take them off:
You might be able to see that her nose and face are a little sore. Claire was sick earlier this month initially with an ear infection which turned into a cold which still lingers. There was one night when we were especially scared but Claire was a trooper and has been generally pleasant considering that she was sick.
My job is pretty demanding and also very rewarding. I’m working on projects which are fairly significant to the company as a whole which is exciting. I really like my job.
I’ve started baking bread as a hobby. Last weekend, I made English muffins which turned out really well:
We made egg sandwiches with the English muffins and cooked up some bacon:
Claire loved her bacon and was happy to share it:
We’ll see if Claire is interested in opening presents on Christmas and try to post some pictures. I think she’s still a bit too young to get it but we’ll give it a shot :-)
Happy Thanksgiving
We had a great Thanksgiving! We were unable to go back East to spend time with our families but, fortunately, Aaron has a good friend who lives in Seattle and we were able to spend time with him and some of his friends. Dinner wasn’t until four so we kept ourselves busy: I made a pecan pie; Aaron baked two delicious loaves of bread; and then we made green bean casserole (from scratch) to bring to the T-day feast. We had a great time and enjoyed getting acquainted with new friends. Claire’s favorite part was climbing all over Greg’s new furniture. And she loved the pie - her favorite part of the meal, of course! We took this picture after our long meal (and after said pie) and Claire was just about ready to crash - as were we. Many thanks to our friends for good food and good conversation!
